Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings
At your dental checkup, we’ll ask if you’ve noticed anything unusual in your mouth lately, and we’ll carefully examine your teeth and gums for any symptoms that you might have trouble noticing on your own. We also often take X-rays during checkups to capture information about the hard-to-see parts of your mouth. If any plaque or tartar is present, we’ll clean your mouth so that the bacteria doesn’t do any permanent harm to your teeth or gums.
Nightguards for Bruxism
Patients of any age can grind or clench their teeth at night. Whether it’s caused by stress, a misaligned jaw, or an injury, you want to stop it before your teeth become too worn down or injured. We can give you a mouthguard to separate the upper and lower rows of teeth so that when your jaws start to make clenching or grinding motions, the enamel is protected. Each nightguard is customized to fit comfortably and provide many years of protection.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride is an invaluable tool for protecting the teeth. Its properties help strengthen enamel and improve its ability to resist decay; for this reason, it’s an important ingredient in ADA-approved brands of toothpaste. At the end of your appointment, we may decide to give your smile extra protection by applying a coat of fluoride, which will be absorbed by the teeth. Fluoride treatments can easily fit into a regular preventive visit since they only take a few minutes and don’t cause any pain.
